It is easy to grow and can make every Northwest garden a success. Summer Squash is best when picked quite young. They are the ideal size when you can pierce their skin by barely exerting pressure with your thumbnail. No other vegetable can be cooked as many ways - steamed, fried, baked, pickled, or thinly sliced to use in salads. Summer squash is a real budget saver and takes little space. Plant in hills 2' to 4' apart with 3 to 5 plants to each hill. Approximately 250 seeds per ounce or 8 to 10 seeds per gram.
