Small tree or shrub also known as Japanese Pepper. Widely used in the cuisine of Sichuan, China as well as Tibetan, Nepalese, Japanese and others to flavor rice and other dishes providing a pleasant peppery lemon flavor. The husks are
preferred as the black seeds tend to have a gritty texture. Lightly toast the hulls and crush prior to adding to food. Leaves are used n Japanese recipes. Grows to a shrub or small tree with to 6" long leaves. Prefers full sun to partial shade,
